Who's behind the ArtyFace?
Wendy Holroyd lives in St Albans, Hertfordshire and has always been a lover of art. Whilst bringing up a family, she facilitated workshops in percussion and taught mask making in schools and for community groups. In 2001, she took a course in life drawing and fell in love with painting. In 2007 she discovered face and body painting and a whole new world opened up to her...
"Some years ago, I went on a mission to 'find myself'. I felt strongly that I needed a vocation which I could love and nurture and attending a life drawing course confirmed my passion lay in painting... I had no idea it would be face and body painting!
I read several inspiring books on finding the work you love, listened to countless cd's and began to imagine myself happy working with paints and brushes. I had a small selection of face paints that I had used on my children years before which I dug out and began to dabble with! After seeing my work, a friend asked me if I would paint at her sons party. I agreed and a couple of the other parents at the party asked me to paint for their childrens parties. I began to fall in love... with face painting!Since that time, my business has grown considerably. I have worked incredibly hard on honing and developing my painting skills... and still do! I'm always learning something new... there is no end to what can be learnt. My work has taken me to some incredible places... even Dubai.. and I have met many wonderful, interesting people on my journey. I feel incredibly lucky to have finally found a career which I love... and which has no limits. Who knows what'll happen next, but I'm definitely looking forward to and welcoming whatever it is. The future is so exciting!"
